They should just keep it up.
While the last one wasn't that good, the one before was awesome!!

Lionsgate are "actively developing" another SAW film. We're three years out from SAW 3D and the end of the last sequence of movies, but the rumour is that a new director is being sought right now, somebody to pick up the pieces and put together something new. They're not telling us to expect a remake, however, saying: "Insiders tell us they want to continue with SAW 8."

The original film is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is making its return to theaters for one week only beginning October 31st. Producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules had to say this about the future of the franchise;

"James and Leigh… when SAW came out they were so afraid of being 'the SAW guys'," Koules said, "and they were trying to make their own mark. Now that they've made their own mark, they're very comfortable to come back. We're getting there. James and Leigh are absolutely going to put their mark on it."

"Who knows?" Burg said, adding with a tinge of hope, "We're getting closer."

"It's one of the reasons we agreed to do this again," Koules continued, referring to the first SAW's return to theaters. "We kind of wanted to build it up. Our goal is to go to Comic-Con, not next summer but the summer after [2016] with our heads up saying, 'Here we go.' James and Leigh are comfortable with the success they've had. And it's time. James is in post on his movie. Leigh's on post on [INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3]. Everyone has time and it's time."

SAW LEGACY - JIGSAW: Coming to theaters on October 27th. The upcoming sequel now has a new title, JIGSAW. It fittingly comes seven years after SAW THE FINAL CHAPTER, will star Laura Vandervoort and Hannah Anderson. Additional cast members have yet to be confirmed, but given the title change it's a safe bet that none other than Tobin Bell will return as the titular villain. The feature was shot mostly in secret last fall. All seven previous films have a combined worldwide box office gross of $870 million.

Lionsgate (via Entertainment Weekly) has released a new photo (no on the NEWS page) from JIGSAW, the eighth film in the Saw horror franchise (formerly titled SAW LEGACY).

"Bodies are turning up, and they're linked to Jigsaw — or a Jigsaw copycat," said Peter Spierig. "The DNA of Tobin Bell is all over this film."

"We've got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don't shy away from the gore," says Michael Spierig. "It's such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It's perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it's still full of good fun gore, that's for sure. And, on top of that, it's got a really great mystery, and there's very interesting twists. It's SAW for 2017."

JIGSAW will arrive just ahead of Halloween, debuting on October 27.
