After watching Kaneko's Gamera trilogy, I have switched allegiance. Eek But, I find some Godzilla movies post Godzilla 1985 to be actually good (I enjoyed the first movie immensely!). I liked the one with Mecha King Ghidorah, and the only sore spot was the one with Space Godzilla. (the one by the one who directed aragami - not so good)

Old Godzilla is my favorite (as are most things it seems). I don't know what else to say but that those movies were the first genre movies I looked forward to.

GODZILLA: THE ORIGINAL ANIMATED SERIES VOL. 3 on DVD Today

In 1978, Hanna-Barbera Productions created the first cartoon series based on Toho Co., Ltd.’s character Godzilla. The GODZILLA show followed the adventures of the research vessel Calico; Captain Carl Majors (voiced by Jeff David), scientist Dr. Quinn Darian (Brenda Thompson), her young nephew Pete (Al Eisenmann), first mate Brock (Hilly Hicks), and Godzooky, the “comical, cowardly cousin” of Godzilla. Each week the crew of the Calico would find themselves in one predicament after another, only to be rescued in the nick of time by Godzilla, King of the Monsters.

GODZILLA premiered on the NBC television network on September 9, 1978. It ran for two seasons of 13 episodes each and a third season of reruns with the final NBC broadcast on September 5, 1981. Rights to the series reverted to Toho in 2003. Classic Media licensed the show from Toho in 2005 and released the first two DVD volumes on June 6, 2006. The previous DVDs featured four episodes apiece, but Volume 3 includes five episodes to complete the first season of GODZILLA.

Matthew Vaughn confirms that the "Thor" script he handed in to Marvel was budgeted in the region of $300 million, and so he's been asked to cut that in half. Meanwhile, Kevin McKidd has confirmed that he won't be playing the superhero in "Thor", but could play the villain Loki.

TERROR MECHAGODZILLA and ALL MONSTERS ATTACK Now on Sale

A quick reminder that Classic Media’s last two Godzilla DVDs— ALL MONSTERS ATTACK (aka GODZILLA’S REVENGE) and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA— went on sale today. The discs were originally released last November as part of THE GODZILLA COLLECTION DVD box set but are now available separately for the first time from stores and online retailers.

The ALL MONSTERS ATTACK DVD includes the 1969 Japanese version and the 1971 American release GODZILLA’S REVENGE, both in the original anamorphic widescreen theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The Japanese version was remastered from a 35mm low-contrast positive print from Toho Studios and comes with a 2 track mono mix plus newly translated removable English subtitles.

Extra features include a feature length audio commentary by Cult Movies and SciFi Japan contributor Richard Pusateri, the “Ishiro Honda: The Soul of Godzilla” featurette, a poster gallery, and an image slide show.

Classic Media’s TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA DVD includes the 1975 Japanese version and the 1978 American edit from UPA. The Japanese version was sourced from a 35mm low-contrast positive print from Toho Studios and is newly remastered for this DVD. The film is presented in the original anamorphic widescreen theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The prologue and opening credits from the US version are from the extended cut prepared by UPA for television broadcast in 1978. The body of the film matches the widescreen Japanese print with the English dubbing track to finally give American viewers the opportunity to see TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA without the heavy editing found on every previous home video release.

Extra features include a feature length audio commentary by SciFi Japan co-editors Bob Johnson and Keith Aiken, “The Women of Godzilla” featurette, a poster gallery, and an image slide show.

ALL MONSTERS ATTACK and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA have a suggested retail price of $16.93 each.
