New Line Cinema is developing a film adaptation of the classic 1980's arcade video game "Rampage" reports Heat Vision.

Midway Games produced the game which follows three humans who mutate into a giant lizard, werewolf and ape respectively. The players goal was to inficlit enough damage on the buildings on the screen to cause them to collapse.

Warners acquired Midway in a $33 million deal in 2009. The film will use the title and some gaming visuals to create a "smartly-budgeted monster movie in the vein of 'Ghostbusters' and 'Independence Day".

John Rickard will produce and is meeting with writers to develop a story.

P.J. Byrne will join Dwayne Johnson in the Brad Peyton-directed video game adaptation “Rampage” for New Line. Naomie Harris, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, and Breanne Hill also star while Beau Flynn will produce.

In the film, a gigantic trio of creatures – a gorilla, crocodile, and a wolf – destroy North American cities and landmarks. Johnson will play a zoologist and Byrne will portray a scientist. The film is targeting an April 20th 2018 release.
